Jumbo CD Rates

FedChoice Federal Credit Union is offering yields of up to 5.35% apy on their mini jumbo share certificates. Yields are below:

The minimum deposit requirement for these certificates is $50,000.

Field of membership in FedChoice Federal Credit Union is extended to all federal civilian employees, annuitants and their families in the Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia Metropolitan areas.

FirstLight Federal Credit Union is offering a 24-month share certificate with a yield of up to 5.48% APY for a $100K minimum deposit. Lower yields are available for smaller deposits including a 5.38% for a $50K minimum, 5.27% for a $25K minimum and 5.17% for a $500 minimum. These are also available in an IRA and Business certificate.

Membership is open to anyone living, working or worshiping in El Paso County, Dona Ana County or the Fort Bliss community. Membership requires a $2 fee and a minimum deposit of $5 into the share savings account.

Branches are located in El Paso, Texas and La Cruces, New Mexico.

Digital Federal Credit Union continues to offer 5.50% APY on a 60 month IRA share certificate. You must have a Loyalty Checking Plus relationship to qualify for this yield. Those without this relationship will earn a lower rate. The minimum deposit requirement for this certificate is $500.

The credit union is also offering 5.00% APY on a 7 month share certificate special. This special is good for regular, jumbo, and IRA share certificates. The minimum deposit requirement for this offer starts at $500 for regular and IRA accounts.

Field of membership in Digital Federal Credit Union is extended to those who live, work, worship, or attend school in certain Massachusetts and Georgia communities as well to those belonging to a number of sponsoring organizations and companies.

CFCU Community Credit Union is offering yields of up to 5.90% APY on their share certificates now through December 31st, 2007. They are offering 5.90% APY on a 50 month jumbo share certificate as well as 5.38% APY on 10 & 20 month jumbo share certificates. You must have or open a Premiere Checking account with the credit union to earn these yields. The minimum deposit requirement for these yields is $100,000. Lesser deposit requirements are available for certificates with the same maturities at lower rates.

Field of membership in CFCU Community Credit Union is extended to those who live, work or attend school in Tompkins or Cortland Counties in the State of New York. Businesses or organizations in this area are also eligible for membership.

Air Force Federal Credit Union is offering 5.40% APY on a 3 year jumbo share certificate. They are also offering a competitive 5.30% APY on their 1, 2 & 5 year jumbo share certificates. The minimum deposit requirement for these certificates is $100,000.

Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union is offering 5.85% apy on a 5 month jumbo IRA share certificate. The minimum deposit requirement for this certificate is $100,000. 5 month IRA share certificates with lesser deposits and 5 month regular share certificates are also available at lower yields. Corus Bank currently has some competitive rates on its jumbo certificate offerings. Looking at their rate sheet (pdf),  Corus is currently offering 5.15% APY for 6 month and 1 year CDs. This is a pretty high rate for certificates over $100,000.

In addition, Corus bank also offers IRA CDs, IRA savings, checkings, as well as regular certificates and savings accounts. These rates are also competitive with industry rates at the moment.

Wells Fargo currently offers a number of jumbo certificate of deposits with deposit limits over $100,000. The highest rate that they have is 4.20% APY for a 5 year to 12 year certificate. It seems that the longer the term, the higher the rate. a 3-5 month jumbo CD only has a yield of 3.25% APY.

These are their standard CD rates and should be available at your local Wells Fargo branch, as well.

BECU has some competitive rates on its certificates of deposits. The top yield is 5.35% APY for a Jumbo 60-month CD (minimum deposit $100K). Some other Jumbo CD rates include a 5.16% APY for a 12-month term and 5.20% APY for 18, 24 and 30 month terms. The rates for a $50K minimum are about 10 basis points lower, and the rates for a $500 minimum are about 20 basis points lower. The IRA certificates have similar rates.

Branches are located through out Washington State including the cities of Seattle, Everett, Olympia, Redmond and Tacoma. BECU is one of the largest credit unions in the nation with $7.6 billion in assets and 520,384 members.

Countrywide probably has the best CD rates on their Jumbo certificates, with rates ranging from 5.00% to 5.40% on their Jumbo CDs. The reason their rates are so high is because they need to attract more deposits. However with their recent lending problems, it may not be wise to put too much money into a Countrywide CD, as they are only FDIC insured up to $100,000.
